News: all updates for our software and apps

Alwin here, the CLZ guy, with your CLZ news for August 2024.

It’s holiday season, so members of the CLZ team are taking their well-deserved vacations. But still, we have been able to introduce a big improvement to the Add by Title features of both the mobile and web editions of our movie, game and comic products.
The new “search for…” suggestions will save you a lot of time and typing.

We have also completed a big 9.7 update for the CLZ Comics app, which we planned to release before the end of the month. But the last stretch, tweaking and tuning the UI, took more time than we anticipated. So we will release this new version early next week.
You can find a sneak preview of v9.7 below.

The news for August 2024:

  • CLZ Movies and Movie Connect: New “search for…” suggestions when adding movies by Title
  • CLZ Games and Game Connect: New “search for…” suggestions when adding games by Title
  • CLZ Comics and Comic Connect: New “search for…” suggestions when adding comics by Series or by Issue
  • Coming up next week: CLZ Comics 9.7, with lots of improvements all over the app!
  • CLZ Core updates:
    • Core for Games: “Check Covers” project, 95.6% cloud coverage!
    • Core for Movies: “Check Covers” project, 78.0% cloud coverage!
    • Core for Comics: New Comic Book Day summary, 2,113 new releases

CLZ Movies and Movie Connect:

New “search for…” suggestions when adding movies by Title

As you know, when you start typing in the Add by Title box, the app always shows you a dropdown with 5 suggestions for the most popular matching movies. Tap one of these to instantly select that movie.

In this month’s updates for both the Movie Connect web-based software and the CLZ Movies mobile app, we added a new “Search for …” entry at the top of that dropdown, with a smart search suggestion. Basically it tries to “auto complete” what you are typing.
Tap/click that box to do a Title search on those words.

For example, just type “tra” and the “Search for” suggestion becomes “transformers”. Hit that to instantly find all Transformers movies.

Check out some screenshots here: Movie Connect / CLZ Movies.

CLZ Games and Game Connect:

New “search for…” suggestions when adding games by Title

As you know, when you start typing in the Add by Title box, the app always shows you a dropdown with 5 suggestions for the most popular matching games. Tap one of these to instantly select that game.

In this month’s updates for both the Game Connect web-based software and the CLZ Games mobile app, we added a new “Search for …” entry at the top of that dropdown, with a smart search suggestion. Basically it tries to “auto complete” what you are typing.
Tap/click that box to do a Title search on those words.

For example, just type “ze” and the “Search for” suggestion becomes “the legend of zelda”. Hit that to instantly find all Legend of Zelda games.

CLZ Comics and Comic Connect:

New “search for…” suggestions when adding comics by Series or by Issue

Similar updates are now live for the CLZ Comics mobile app and the Comic Connect web-based software, but for comics we also introduced “search for…” suggestions on the By Issue tab, which did not have smart suggestions at all yet.

New “Search for…” suggestions when adding comics by Series

As you know, when you start typing in the Series Title box, the app always shows you a dropdown with 5 suggestions for the most popular matching series. Click one of these to instantly select that series.

In this update, we added a new “Search for …” entry at the top of that dropdown, with a smart search suggestion. Basically it tries to “auto complete” what you are typing. Click that box to do a series search on those words (or use arrow keys to select the suggestion!)

For example, just type “ama” and the “Search for” suggestion already becomes “the amazing spider-man”. Click/tap it to instantly find all Amazing Spider-man series.

New “Search for…” suggestions when adding comics by Issue

On the Issue tab, we added the same “Search for …” auto-complete smartness.
For example, type “iro” and it will suggest “iron man”. Tap that suggestion to auto-complete your search. Now enter the issue number (e.g. “17” and hit Enter to find all issues 17 of all Iron Man series.

This should make the Issue tab even more efficient for quickly finding specific issues.

Coming up next week: CLZ Comics 9.7, with lots of improvements all over the app!

A big update for CLZ Comics is coming up early next week, with lots of improvements to various screens of the app:

  • Add Comics screen:
    • New “Hide Owned” toggle on Series tab, for hiding all issues that you already own
    • New snappy “Confirm” popups replace the old and slow Preview pages
    • New look for issue cards on Issue tab
  • Main screen:
    • List and Card View now show the Variant Description
    • Several layout improvements to the comic details page
    • New folder options “All Artists” and “All Writers”
  • Statistics screen:
    • Removed the “Comic by Creator” top list (which many users found useless and annoying because it included the Editor roles). So we replace it with:
    • New Top Artists list, that includes all artist type roles (artists, pencillers, colorists, painters, inkers, etc..)
    • New Top Writers list, that includes all writer type roles (writer, plotter, scripter)

CLZ Core updates:

Core for Games: “Check Covers” project, 95.6% cloud coverage!

The final stretch here, worked on by CLZ Kelvin, CLZ Martin and enthusiast game collector and CLZ customer Martin.

We are currently at a Cloud Coverage of 95.6%, meaning that for an average game collection, at least 95.6% percent of cover images should be the correct image for that barcode.

Core for Movies: “Check Covers” project, 78.0% cloud coverage!

Big steps are still being made here, mainly by CLZ Senno, who has been working from home during during the nightshift in the past 9 months. Senno has raised the cloud coverage for movie cover images up to 78% now.
Senno has left the company though, to continue his studies, so CLZ Martin will take over from here.
