January newsletter: Cut the cord with CLZ Barry

January 31st, 2013

Welcome to the first Collectorz.com newsletter of 2013!

And we’re off to a great start, with two big releases already completed and another one coming up.

On top of that, our popular CLZ Barry app got a very nice review at TUAW.com. To celebrate Barry’s success, we’re doing a *Barry Half Price Sale” this week!

So these are the topics of today’s newsletter:

  • Cut the barcode scanning cord with CLZ Barry (half price this week!)
  • Book Collector NINE for Windows is live
  • CLZ Music 2.0 for iOS live, CLZ Books 2.0 coming up
  • CLZ Books 2.0 for iOS submitted, live tomorrow?

Let’s start with Barry.

Cut the barcode scanning cord with CLZ Barry (half price this week!)

Remember Barry?

CLZ Barry is our wireless barcode scanner app for iOS and Android. The Barry app was released in August 2011 and since then has been downloaded over 18 thousand times!
(13 thousand on iOS, 5 thousand on Android).

Last week, Barry received a nice review on the TUAW.com site. A quote:

“The magic: Barry cleverly pairs with a buddy application running on your Mac or PC… your scans from Buddy instantly appear in the active text field of the foreground app, just as if you had typed the ISBN on the keyboard … you can blithely scan away as you climb the ladders/dig in the boxes/roam the stacks, and have all the cataloging done by the time you get back to your desk.”

(the review is about books, but it works for books, movies, CDs, comics & games).

To celebrate Barry’s success, we started a Half Price Sale today. For the next 7 days, Barry’s price is just US $3.99 (regular price US $7.99).

To get CLZ Barry half price, just open the App Store or Play Store on your iOS or Android device, and search for “CLZ BARRY”.

More info, screen shots and a demo video can be found on the Barry pages.

Book Collector NINE for Windows is live

Following the huge success of Movie Collector 9, we have released the same popular features in Book Collector 9, including the Unicode support, the improved main screen, and the full cosmetic overhaul: Virtual Shelves view, new toolbar icons, the breadcrumb bar, new Vee Nine and Metro templates, etc…

But the main new addition to Book Collector NINE is of course the new automatic Author images, Wikipedia links and Author born/died information, all automagically delivered from our own central online book database.

Here’s the full What’s New list including screen shots.

CLZ Music 2.0 for iOS live, CLZ Books 2.0 coming up

Our “iOS 2.0″ project is speeding up now and the 3rd 2.0 app was released on January 15 :
